Yesterday, my Mom and I tried to remember the rules to a double deck rummy
(including jokers) game that we learned in the mid 1970's.
Basically, the first deal was 7 cards and you had to get 3 or 4 of a kind to
make your first play. The  second you needed a run of 4 (2,3,4,5 of ...

Just finished "The Thirteenth Tale", which I highly recommend to all the
Jane Eyre fans out there.
Finished about an hour ago, Naameh's Kiss. Same world as her Kushiel's
series, but set several generations after. I suspect a few more books to

If you like miniature things, you might be interested in this.
A coworker sent me the link to a site where someone has stitched a

OFF TOPIC = but amusing24 Jul 2009 12:43 GMT2
Last night, after showing a friend and his daughter (one of DD's BFF's), my
garden in the rain and digging her her own daylily and a quick supper, I
drove over to a stitching friend's house for a "Partylite candle party".
Still raining and now with lots and lots of wind. (this is ...

I am now a card carrying member of the prestigious UFO club.
UFO 1 -- I took a silk and metal class with Kay Stanis at a recent seminar.
It's unlikely that I'll ever finish it -- the silk is really hard to work with.
UFO 2 -- Verana, a Brazilian embroidery design -- I have just one ...

I don't think there is anything I can do but I thought I would ask.
I am working on woodland enchantress which is 14x16. I stitch everywhere.
First one corner than the other.
Saturday was a beautiful day I sat and stitched for 4 hours in my garden.

I saw it in a gift shop - two pink lady slippers* with a deep green
border.  Should do up in about a week.  I WILL omit the words "Lady
Slippers" tho at the bottom, hence saving time and floss.  (I hate
writing on a piece of needlework, kitchen caddies and the like).

Just wanted to let everyone know that DS is recovering quickly with the help
of his Rx meds.
I have my purse project and a sketch pad for the crazy quilt design for the

So, I'm off to the grocery store for Benadryl for the DS with poison ivy,
