what protects a weld29 Jul 2007 22:53 GMT13
Is there anything to put on a weld or even bare metal to protect the metal
other than primer? I know new welds needs to be primed, but i thought i

I have been trying to set up oxyacetylene for cutting. I have a "#12 cutting
tip"... but I couldn't find any data accompanying it.
I wanted to cut pipe about 5mm thick. I read that
"For cutting, use 15 psi for the oxygen and 2 psi for the acetylene; but

Buddy of mine runs a nice automotive shop and a month or so ago, he
calls and says his Tig welder died (ancient Miller 300 rebadged as
AIRCO) and could I check it?  Since he does a lot of A/C adapters and
so forth, I loaded up one of my spare TIG machines on the trailer and

newbie brazing questions25 Jul 2007 20:22 GMT7

anything.
I've got a motorcycle with a few significant holes in one of the mufflers.
Given the advanced age of the cycle and the prohibitive $$ of a new muffler,
possible to replace the gas engine on old welder?23 Jul 2007 23:48 GMT17
The old welder/generator I picked up today doesn't look too bad if you sort of
squint at it and ignore the gas engine, which is missing a lot of parts. I may
get lucky and find a parts source, but right now I'm wondering if it might be
possible to just go find another motor with ...

I have a shot at what I believe is a Lincoln Weldanpower 225 for a decent
price. Comes with leads, the guy said it was a good working welder until
1.5 years ago when the owner got sick, then eventually died. Now he says
he doesn't know if it runs.

Looking for a TIG welder16 Jul 2007 04:20 GMT18
I've been wanting to learn TIG welding for quite a while, but the entry
fee seems pretty high! I do alright with OA, but TIG just seems
potentially so much better I want to learn it.
Anyway, I'm looking for an entry-level machine that has both DC and AC
